My life before Scientology was in comparison to many others, pretty successful. I had good grades in school and managed to get good jobs in successful companies. Still it wasn't at all what I wanted it to be. I couldn't understand why there was so much human suffering like war, criminality, drugs etc. in the world. Even though I have never been close to a real war, some days in school, could seem like small wars with "bullets" in the form of sly critical remarks and "grenades" in the form of fist blows.
Later in various jobs I held I could see the "war" continue although now more covert and camouflaged. I couldn't understand why people wouldn't get along and why they wouldn't trust each other. I was worried to the point that I got some quite severe problems with my stomach. I went from doctor to doctor, only to find out that there was not really a medical cure to what I was experiencing. It was at this point that I found the book Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health. Just reading the book explained so much to me that the major part of my stomach problems disappeared. Later applying the technique was even more remarkable.
This is by no means the greatest win I have had in Scientology but it definitely made me interested enough to examine if other writings of L. Ron Hubbard contained equally workable technology. My experience is that Scientology materials definitely do contain workable methods that truly helps people.
